Remember that expanded form is when you stretch a number out by its place value parts and turn it into an addition sentence?

Owls- Comparing Fractions

Jake had a pack of 12 markers.  He used 1/4 of the markers to color a beach scene.  Alli also had a pack of 12 markers.  She used 6/12 of the markers to color a sunset picture.

1.  Did Jake use more markers or did Alli?  Explain how you know.
2.  Give your own example of a time you've used fractions in your real life.
